Does this leaked Apple doc confirm the iPhone launch date?

September 1 2013 , Written by Evan Published on #Apple News

A leaked internal Apple document appears to offer further confirmation for the rumored September iPhone launch timeframe. A company calendar obtained exclusively by Apple Insider shows that the Cupertino-based company is drastically restricting the amount of time off that AppleCare employees can take from September 15 through September 28.

According to unnamed sources cited by AllThingsD, Apple will unveil the next-generation iPhones at a media event on September 10. Based on previous iPhone launches, the new devices are expected to be on store shelves by September 20.

The AppleCare employee calendar dates are also in line with employee vacation blackout dates from some of Apple’s carriers. Unofficial T-Mobile news blog TmoNews recently revealed that the wireless provider had scheduled employee blackout dates from September 20 through September 22.

BGR’s sources stated that AT&T had similarly limited vacation time for its employees during the last half of September. The report also noted that AT&T had no other important device launches planned during this period that would account for the unusual scheduling.

Apple is widely expected to unveil a lower-cost plastic iPhone alongside the typical flagship iPhone refresh this year. The flagship device — or iPhone 5S — is rumored to feature a fingerprint sensor, an upgraded camera, and an A7 processor that is 31 percent faster than the current A6 chip found in Apple’s iPhone 5.

The lower-cost device, or iPhone 5C, is expected to feature hardware similar to the iPhone 5. However, the iPhone 5C will be available in red, green, yellow, blue, and white colors.

Here’s how Apple has traded so far this week.
